Dwight Harris Jr.
CEO of Icon 10
Mr. Harris is the Chief Executive Officer of Icon 10 currently living and working in Detroit, Michigan. He told himself visions are one thought away from prevailing success. His passion is his life’s journey of helping people overcome obstacles and barriers. Dwight’s application of knowledge has surpassed his expectations of bringing to his community for advancement and empowerment. He has been the lead consultant with the inception of conceptualizing for businesses in his local community. He is dedicated and integrally vested in those he serves. As the CEO of Icon 10, he has helped many children and families. Dwight is a prolific speaker whose verbal prowess educates, inspires, and brings awareness to the voiceless, underclass and under-served. Dwight speaks, hosts and spear-head community meetings to bring inclusion and diversity throughout the Metropolitan area. He is a mentor for at-risk youth and men and women that are returning from prison. He created ideological structures and pathways for his adjustment purposes to apply to those struggling socially and economically. He is a creative visionary that efficiently blends cultures and ideologies. Dwight believes anyone ‘Can Overcome Negativity’ with some support, kindness, and diligence in assisting others, to make the community we live in, a better place to live.
Dwight was hired as a Case Manager for Children Aid Society in February 2014, a Community Violence Intervention initiative, to help reduce crime in the most violent neighborhoods in Detroit. Dwight became the coordinator of community engagement for the Children Aide Society. He canvased the entire neighborhood, bringing resources and creating programs for at-risk youth. Children Aid Society was in collaboration with Detroit Crime Commission to manage the case loads of Detroit Eastern probationers with crimes less than a felony firearm case.
Dwight is certified as a Case Manager. He managed at least 120 cases at a time. He is an efficient and effective ideological leader. Upon meeting offenders in the Detroit Detention Center, he would do an Intake assessment thereafter; he would determine who was eligible for programming. Dwight will then schedule with his clients, to do a follow-up meeting to track the process. He transported offenders to their appointments. He would also make weekly contacts with the offenders and note their progress.
As Case Management, Dwight would also advocate for offenders at their court hearings; standing next them in court, speaking on behalf of adults 17-26, helping offenders obtain jobs, housing, drug treatment and therapy.
Dwight also created and facilitated a group/program he founded within Detroit Eastern District Initiative canvassing, dubbed “Y.E.L.L.” (Youth, Equality, Learning to Live) He started with 17 Detroit/Eastern District children. The group focused on encouraging children to dare and do wondrous things through self-esteem, conflict resolution and restorative practice and group therapy, once a week.
He also transported children to the Detroit Museum, Detroit Pistons basketball games, Detroit Zoo, and a host of other venues.
He was transferred within Children’s Aid Society to Detroit Ceasefire for case management. Mr. Harris case managed 120 gang members from Detroit most violent neighborhoods. He facilitated a group dubbed “Strengthening Brothers” support group. The group was made up of all Ceasefire Call participants. The participant was helped with housing, jobs, and drug counseling.
Since his employment with the Children’s Aid Society, He has gone on to create his own 501(C)3, ICON10. ICON10 is an expansion of Dwight’s Choice Outreach Program. ICON10 stands for “I Can Overcome Negativity.” ICON10’s mission is to assist and educate children and families, the disadvantaged and the homeless, by offering essential tools to help overcome difficult circumstances in life. ICON10 offers life skills that will help everyone to develop a self-sustaining outlook on life. ICON10’s biggest component is prison reform via life skills (one on one) and continued contact throughout the Michigan prison system. Mr. Harris provided case management services to assist with the re-acclimating process.
Dwight had a vision for assisting the wrongfully convicted and thus created Innocence Maintained, an organization that will bring awareness to the Wrongful Conviction. Mr. Harris assisted innocent prisoners in gaining their freedom. Innocence Maintained will assist and support innocent prisoners by coordinating re-entry, building connections and networking, locating housing and resources, and completing referrals. Once the innocent prisoners have acclimated back into society, Innocence Maintain helped facilitate job readiness training, credit management courses, as well as money management and budgeting courses (2018-2019). Dwight was the President and COO of Innocence Maintained until stepping down. Dwight is presently a consultant for Innocence Maintained.

He did special presentations on many fronts: Lawton Parole, Chrysler and Algonquin Parole and Probation, the *Chief Judge and Judges in Frank Murphy Hall of Justice. Mr. Harris has exceptional communication skills. Mr. Harris was the lead organizer of the Children’s Aid Society’s Walk/Run on Belle Isle. Creator of Y.E.L.L. Youth Mentorship Program.
Mr. Harris has been a host of several award ceremonies. Mr. Harris continues to take the lead in the community by working to bridge the gap between community and municipalities with a program he created called Block Club United, an Icon 10 program.
Mr. Harris presently (2023) works for Detroit Wayne Health Integrated Network (DWHIN) as an advocate for mental health services. He does mental health presentations for mental health providers. He’s scheduled to emcee ‘Walk a Mile in My Shoes’ at the capital in Lansing, Michigan later this year 2023.
Mr. Harris is a social media (Dwight Harris) influencer and Facebook digital creator with badges of expertise in visibility and content. Mr. Harris’ knowledge of social, technical, and digital applications has helped his creative ideological vision to better the conditions in our community across the region that he lives in.
Dwight’s Non-Profit Icon 10 has an annual event called ‘A Holiday Celebration’. The event addresses the needs of children whose parents are incarcerated or children that’s in the Foster Care system. We have individuals come in and speak to the children. This event has been scheduled around the second week in December for the last 4 years Icon 10 gives gifts to the children and has individuals sponsor a child or a family that’s in need during the Holiday season.
Dwight’s return from prison in November 2011 and his adjustment is a remarkable one, in his commitment and dedication to working in the communities that he once was sentenced for being menacing, sent to prison for 25 “young and impressionable” years. Dwight has been home for 12 years in November of 2023, with college, working in the mainstream; working with professional individuals to make legislative changes in our community, that will give individuals who has not had an opportunity to be free since teenagers, an opportunity to become productive members in “free” society. Dwight has not stopped since being released. Dwight went to prison when he was 19 years old. Coming home at 43 was a traumatic experience for him but Dwight’s passion for change supersedes the great work he does in the community throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area by bringing awareness that comes from experience and education. Many that know Dwight would say he’s full of life and passion and always envisioning and finding ways for him to bring awareness and make changes in our community.
